Medical Weight Management
Clinically supervised plans based on health history, goals, and treatment eligibility
Weight can be affected by many factors, including nutrition, activity, sleep, medications, medical conditions, genetics, and environment. An individual evaluation helps identify which factors and treatment options are relevant to you.
At Alvin-Manvel Family Clinic, medical weight management starts with a health history, medication review, discussion of goals, and labs when indicated. A plan may include an FDA-approved GLP-1 medication when clinically appropriate. If a compounded product is considered, your provider should explain that compounded drugs are not FDA-approved or reviewed by FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality before marketing.
Our team provides regular follow-up, monitoring, and treatment adjustments. Medication response, side effects, weight change, and long-term maintenance vary, and no specific amount or duration of weight loss is guaranteed.
Review the FDA’s current information about unapproved and compounded GLP-1 products.

Who Is a Good Candidate?
Eligibility depends on the specific treatment and your health history. Many FDA-approved chronic weight-management medications are indicated for adults with a BMI of 30 or higher, or 27 or higher with at least one weight-related condition. A consultation determines whether medication or another approach is appropriate.
